  • You’re not a billion-dollar company with terabytes of data to make those predictions

  • Goals overwhelm you with an endless list of tasks you have to do or can do to achieve them - making prioritization impossible and confusion inevitable

  • Even if you push through the overwhelm, your plans will be fall apart as soon as you take action (just look at how many times you have re-designed your plans with no luck)

  • Where you’ll be in 5 or 10 years cannot be predicted at all

Look, I get it…Your goals make you feel good.They give you a sense of power.And yes, I also get that goals are good to have a direction. They act as a compass. It’s also impossible to not have them.But on a day-to-day basis, they’re worthless.“Feeling good” and “having a temporary sense of direction” isn’t enough to achieve success.You need to have the clarity, energy, and concrete structure to take focused action.

Lie #2: Discipline Means Completing All Your Work Before Others Wake Up And Disappearing For 6 Months

Discipline doesn’t have to be torture.You’re only making yourself inefficient by doing that.

  • Diving straight into intense work when you wake up is like hitting your PR at the gym without warming up

  • Having the need to do intense work for more than 4-6 hours shows your lack of focus, not your dedication

  • You increase your chances of quitting and indulging in self-destructive habits by isolating yourself (study 1 and study 2 for reference)
